Helping to create more community spaces in Lichfield.

A primary school in Whittington, near Lichfield, has been awarded £1,000 to be put towards a project designed to open up its facilities to the local community thanks to local homebuilder David Wilson Homes.

The donation to Whittington Primary School will allow the school hall and outdoor facilities to be made accessible and available to community groups and for private hire outside of school hours.

The developer, which is building new homes nearby at Hallam Park and Darwin View on Limburg Avenue in Lichfield, has given the money as a part of its Community Fund initiative.

The programme is designed to support local organisations and charities in the company’s areas of operations.

Nichola Leeson, Headteacher at Whittington Primary School, said: “We are lucky enough to have great community facilities in our village, but they are in extremely high demand.

“Our school has a hall, playing field and playgrounds that could be used by local businesses and the community for a host of different activities. To allow this to happen, we need to adapt the school in some minor ways including installing key pad entry and adapting the bathrooms.”

Whittington Primary school is situated close to the David Wilson Homes developments, just two miles from Lichfield City in Staffordshire and takes pupils from age three to 11.
